Does Red Light Help Your Sleep?

We all know that sleep problems have a huge impact on our mental and physical health.

Blue light emitted from our phones, computers and televisions disturbs your circadian rhythm and can affect your sleep.  It can stop your brain producing melatonin, the hormone needed for feeling sleepy.
So, do other coloured lights also affect or improve your sleep?
The theory is that red light can in fact stimulate melatonin, therefore helping your body prepare for a good night’s sleep.

Here are a few great tips below to get your your rhythm back from Healthline article

  1. If possible, block all light from your bedroom. Consider installing blackout curtains or using a sleep mask.
  2. If you use a nightlight, choose one that emits dim red, orange, or yellow light.
  3. Remove, power down, or use night mode on electronics that shine into your bedroom.
  4. To really get back on track, avoid electronic screens for 30 minutes to an hour before going to bed.

The LeRêve Zodiac and Luna Ultrasonic Diffuser have colour changing LED lights, which can be set to red. Why not give it a try with some Sweet Sleep Pure Essential Oil Blend?

As Benjamin Franklin said “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”.
Sweet dreams!
