Ask an aromatherapist what oil emanates great spiritual radiance and protective energies and they might say it’s Sandalwood Essential Oil.
The well-known woody, balsamic aroma of Sandalwood Essential Oil has been held in the highest regard for centuries. The wood has been used as an incense in religious and spiritual ceremonies, as well as in households to promote a relaxing, meditative atmosphere. The scent of Sandalwood has an uplifting and simultaneously grounding effect that helps to calm and balance the emotions.
Sandalwood is anti-inflammatory and anti-viral, offering relief from colds, coughs, congestion and bronchial irritations, skin irritations and allergies, and promoting a good night's sleep. It is also highly valued for its ability to promote healthy looking skin. It may reduce the symptoms of acne, psoriasis and eczema, and help sensitive and aged skins to retain their softness and suppleness.

What's the history behind this ancient Essential Oil and how is it extracted?
This sacred wood has been used for thousands of years and is traced back to the time of ancient India and Egypt (circa 3100 BC). One of its most famous varieties can be found in Mysore in the South of India. East Indian Sandalwood has been a popular ingredient in Ayurvedic medicine, the folk medicine of India. It’s also been used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
Now Australian-grown Sandalwood accounts for the vast majority of the world's Sandalwood supplies. The reserves are carefully and sustainably managed by the Western Australian government.
Both tree and roots of the Sandalwood tree contain a yellow aromatic oil and the main method to obtain the Essential Oil is to extract it from the heartwood by steam distillation. Note that Sandalwood is one of a few rare and expensive Pure Essential Oils supplied by LeRêve diluted in pure jojoba oil to ensure affordability.
